EAM Energie AG is a subsidiary of the international company e-on energy.
In the process of best practice sharing between e-on’s different companies,
information is exchanged internationally in English and the efficiency of
processes is compared. Because of the globalisation within the energy industry
as well as within IT, EAM Energie’s IT department began working with Joe
Finer in 1999 to develop a concept for English language skills improvement
to prepare IT employees specifically for their new work scenarios. Employees
have been trained in English skills relevant to their IT processes and based
on their individual level of English skill. This Audit approach has proved
to be extremely efficient and successful. As a result, it has been adopted
by other departments within EAM Energie – always according to the motto “Finer
English better business”.

“We have worked together with Finer English since 1998. Starting
with a handful of students, we soon increased the number of courses
and now Finer English teaches about 120 employees of Wintershall and Wingas.
The courses are taught for different languages: German, Spanish, French, Russian, Portuguese and last but not least English. Finer English also offers special courses and seminars, for example for telephoning skills, presentations and meetings. In the view of course participants and in my own experience, Finer English courses are excellent. This is because the language courses are not general but are tailor-made according to each student’s individual needs. Before a course starts, the language audit identifies the language skills that each employee needs to improve – this is effective and valuable.”
